It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our chair-elect, Ed Tancer. Ed passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 22.
“This is a major loss for not only our Chamber, but our community,” said Board Chair Stephanie Mitrione. “Ed was a great mentor and friend, and one of the most respected people in our area. He always had a positive attitude and couldn’t do enough for anyone he met. He was always helping people as much as he could and impacted more lives in this community than anyone I know, including mine.”
Ed Tancer was Shareholder at Gunster since 2011. Prior to joining the law firm, he spent more than two decades working with NextEra Energy and its subsidiary, Florida Power & Light Company (FPL), as general counsel and senior vice-president of government affairs. In addition to serving on the board of directors executive committee for the Palm Beach North Chamber, Ed was past chair of the Education Foundation of Palm Beach County and past board member of the Palm Beach County chapter of the American Heart Association.
“The Palm Beach North Chamber has lost a respected board member and dear friend to so many of us, and our community has lost one of its finest leaders,” said President & CEO, Noel Martinez. “We will remember Ed for his invaluable contribution to the Chamber and express our deepest condolences to his family.”
Ed was a towering figure in our community, but more importantly he was a loving husband to Susan and a proud father to Harrison and Leah. We keep his family in our thoughts. May his memory be a blessing.
